Ghazal King Mehdi Hassan passes away
Ghazal maestro Mehdi Hassan died in Pakistan today at 12:22 PM following multiple organ failure. He was 84 and was suffering from various age old related disease. Mehdi breathed his last at a private clinic in Sindh's provincial capital Karachi.
Few days back, Hasan was admitted to Agha Khan hospital in the southern port city of Karachi. His condition was very serious and he was on ventilation. "My father passed away at 12:22 PM after a long battle against different ailments," his son Arif Hassan said.
Hasaan was born in India in Rajasthan in 1927. In 1947, his family migrated to Pakistan.
The singer’s last performance in India was in 2000. However, Hassan wished to meet Lata Mangeshkar, Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan but cannot fulfill his wish due to ill health. The Rajasthan government also offered treatment for the Ghazal singer in India but unfortunately he cannot come to India for treatment.
On learning his death, Hassan’s huge fans gathered outside the hospital. Mehdi Hassan was a popular Ghazal singer and has a huge fan following in India as well as in Pakistan.
His death was a great loss to the music world.
