Ghazal King Jagjit Singh passes away
Renowned Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh breathed his last at 8 am at Mumbai Lilavati hospital. He was 70. He was admitted to the hospital after he suffered brain hemorrhage. He is survived by his wife Chitra Singh who is also a leading ghazal singer.
Jagjit Singh was popularly known as the ‘Ghazal King’. He sung in several languages. His personal life was very tragic which can be experienced from his soulful songs. His lost his son Vivek in early 90s in a car accident and also lost his stepdaughter from Chitra Singh’s first marriage, Monica, who was a tarot card reader in 2009. She committed suicide.
He was honored with Padma Bhushan award. He is best known for his heart touching songs like ‘Tum Itna Jo Muskurarahek Ho’, ‘Hoto Se Choon Lo Tum’, ‘Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar, Hoshwalo Ko Khabar and many more.
A big vacant has been created in the music world which cannot be compensate. Bollywood lament the demise of the great Ghazal singer.
