...Ghai's party at Vie, Juhu was indeed different. For, I was surprised to note the absence of lensmen, TV crews and print media journos at the grand bash. “Last night, my daughter [Meghna] told me she was throwing a surprise party and had invited a few friends over. I asked her whether I could invite a few of my friends as well and she nodded in the affirmative,” Ghai tells me.
Great ambience, impressive guest-list [from industrialist Ashok Hinduja to Adlabs head honcho Manmohan Shetty to Film Producer's Guild of India President Amit Khanna to top notch stars to top cop Javed Ahmed – the crowd was 'A' list], scrumptious food, exotic cocktails and mocktails served by European bartenders… and tight security made the party a huge success.
But the cynosure of all eyes was the jodi that beats all jodis – Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai. Reams and reams of newsprint have been devoted to the pair being more than 'good friends', but the couple have denied it all through. However, the duo held hands and walked around at Ghai's bash, putting all speculation to rest that night.
So what if prying eyes were following them wherever they went? Vivek and Ash seemed oblivious of the constant stares… The love birds made it very evident that night that it's just not a close friendship, it's more than that. Incidentally, 'foes' Manisha Koirala and Aishwarya Rai also came face to face at this exclusive party, shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries.
Mukta, Subhash and Meghna Ghai looked after the comforts of each guest personally. A night to remember!
