Former Congress candidate Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan joins BJP

Popular Bhojpuri film star and ‘Bigg Boss 1’ contestant Ravi Kishan formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday (Feb 19), in presence of BJP national president Amit Shah. The actor was accompanied by his colleague and good friend Manoj Tiwari, himself a BJP MP and Delhi unit chief, at the BJP headquarters at 11 Ashoka Road, New Delhi.

Speaking to reporters outside the party office, the newly inducted member said, “Have come to the party that thinks for the poor, my focus is on development not on insulting others.” Ravi Kishan was seen spreading Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in Patna.

Earlier in the day, Manoj Tiwari made the big announcement of Ravi Kishan joining BJP on Twitter. He also shared a selfie of the two while boarding a plane.

This is not the 47-year-old actor’s first brush with politics. Ravi Kishan was a member of the Indian National Congress and had also contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on their ticket. On the other hand, Manoj Tiwari was inducted in the party ahead of the 2014 General Elections and successfully contested from the North-East constituency in Delhi. Both the actors are well-known names in Bhojpuri and Hindi cinema.
