Foreign artistes in upcoming & recent Bollywood films
Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are set to make their Hollywood debut with ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ and ‘Baywatch’ respectively. Even Sonam Kapoor recently signed up with top Hollywood agency. Besides, Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan. Irrfan Khan, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah and several others have already featured in foreign films. Likewise, many foreign actors too have worked in Bollywood films since long. Let us check out the foreign artistes who will be seen in upcoming Bollywood films and also others who have already starred in films in the recent past.
Erika Kaar: The actress from Poland will be seen in Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film ‘Shivaay’. She will be seen playing the love interest of Ajay in the film. According to Erika, she gave auditions in Poland capital Warsaw and the fact that she learnt a couple of lines in Hindi helped her bag the role. She has featured in BBC miniseries ‘The Passing Bells’ and acted in TV serials in her home country.
Abigail Eames: Child artist Abigail will make her Bollywood debut as Ajay Devgn’s on-screen daughter Gaura. Born in England in 2003, she has featured in several British and American TV shows and movies, including ‘Harry and Paul’s Story of the Twos’, ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Alleycats’, ‘Lawless’ etc.
Zhu Zhu: The Chinese actress will be making her Bollywood debut opposite superstar Salman Khan in ‘Tubelight’. The movie directed by Kabir Khan is currently being shot. Zhu Zhu is an established actress and has featured in Hollywood movies like ‘Shanghai Calling’ and ‘The Man with the Iron Fists’ and Chinese supernatural thriller ‘Last Flight’. She was also seen in Netflix’s Marco Polo and was a VJ of MTV China.
Nathan Jones: The seven-feet tall actor played the role of supervillain Raka in the recently released superhero flick ‘A Flying Jatt’ starring Tiger Shroff. Nathan is a retired professional wrestler-turned-actor. He has featured in several Hollywood films like ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, ‘Conan the Barbarian’, ‘Troy’, ‘Police Story 4: First Strike’ and others.
Mahira Khan: This gorgeous lady has come from nearer home – Pakistan, and she has landed a role opposite one of the biggest stars of Bollywood. Mahira will mark her debut in Hindi film industry opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming crime drama ‘Raees’. She has had a successful stint in Pakistani television and film industry and is one of the highest-paid actresses of Pakistan. Other actresses from across the border like Sara Loren, Humaima Malik, Mawra Hocane, Meera have also starred in Hindi films, but haven’t tasted success like their male counterparts Fawad Khan, Javed Sheikh and Ali Zafar.
Fawad Khan: This handsome actor from across the border is perhaps the most popular and successful Pakistani artiste in Bollywood. He forayed into the Indian film industry with 2014 film ‘Khoobsurat’ opposite Sonam Kapoor and bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He received accolades for his performance in the family drama ‘Kapoor & Sons’. He will also be seen in a pivotal role in Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial venture ‘Ae Dil Mushkil’. Fawad is also the first ever Pakistani to be featured on the cover of Filmfare magazine, that too more than once.
Barbara Mori: The Mexican actress starred opposite Hrithik Roshan in the 2010 romantic action thriller ‘Kites’ directed by Anurag Basu. Barbara won the best actress award in Mexico for her role in the film. She has also worked in several television series and films in her country, like ‘Mirada De Mujer’, ‘Rubi’ (TV series), ‘Inspiración’, ‘Cantinflas’, ‘1 a Minute’ etc.
Gordon Liu: He is a Chinese martial arts film actor known for his work in Hollywood films ‘Kill Bill: Volume 1’ and ‘Kill Bill: Volume 2’, besides several Chinese martial arts films like ‘True Legend’, ‘The 36th Chamber of Shaolin’ and its sequels, among others. The actor appeared in Bollywood film ‘Chandni Chowk to China’ starring Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone. He played the negative role of the smuggler Hojo, the main antagonist of the movie.
