Mardaani: Tough cop Rani Mukherjee holds a gun in the first look

YRF’s ‘Mardaani’ is again going to be another woman centric film with complete focus on the female lead, Rani Mukherjee who plays a tough police officer. The first look of the film was released online which shows Rani dressed in kurta and jeans with a pistol in hand and just bashed a guy who was lying at the background.

Directed by Pradeep Sarkar of ‘Parineeta’ fame, this is Rani’s first film post marriage to Yash Raj head honcho Aditya Chopra. In the film, Rani Mukherjee plays Shivani Shivaji Roy, a police officer with the Mumbai Crime Branch who is fearless and ready to take up any challenges and never leaves the criminal without teaching a good lesson. The film carries the  tagline 'every war is personal'.

Rani seems to have shed lots of weight to get into the role. The film is set for August 22 release.

‘Mardaani’ is apparently based on a real-life lady police officer from Mumbai crime branch, who solved several cases of child trafficking in the city. The team are secretive about every detail of the movie.
