First look of ‘Lingaa’ revealed
After a brief hiatus from films, superstar actor and Tamil icon Rajinikanth is back with a new film. Reports began surfacing that the first look poster of his upcoming film ‘Lingaa’ will be coming out on 29th August, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai had tweeted, "#lingaa - 1st look motion poster on #vinayakachathurthi day - aug 29,"
The reports have been proven correct and the film’s first poster has been released online. The poster tries to showcase Rajinikanth’s unique style and charisma. It features Thalaiva dressed in torn jeans, white shirt and brown jacket along with stylish shades. A temple can be seen in the background which plays an important part in the plot.
The film is directed by K S Ravikumar and it stars Rajinikanth in a double role. The plot spans a time period of several generations. The superstar will be seen romancing Anushka Shetty, Hollywood actress Lauren J. Irwin and Sonakshi Sinha who is making her Tamil debut with this film. Other prominent members of the cast include- Santhanam, Karunakaran, Jagapathi Babu, Dev Gill, Radha Ravi, Vijayakumar and Manobala. The music of the film has been composed by Oscar winner AR Rahaman. ‘Lingaa’ is also the name of Rajinikanth’s grandson, the son of actor Dhanush and Aishwarya.
The shooting of the film is still going on. The climax of the film will be shot in Shimoga where a giant statue of Lord Shiva would be erected. The plot of ‘Lingaa’ reportedly revolves around the controversial Mullaiperiyar dam and Rajinikanth is supposedly the chief engineer of the dam. While the cast and crew of the film has refused to reveal much detail about the film, it has been learned that Rajini will be doing some stunts and high octane action sequences in the film. K S Ravikumar has roped in stunt director Lee Whittaker from Hollywood to choreograph the action sequences of the film.
Sonakshi Sinha is also one of the main attractions of the film. She reportedly earned the praise of Rajini himself on the sets because of her ability to pick up things real quick. Her presence in the sets had caught so much attention in the city of Mysore that the makers had to hire no less than 100 bodyguards for security. During the shooting Rajini even celebrated 40 years of his film career with the cast and the crew. The film is slated to release on 12th December on the day of his birthday.
