First look of 'Gunday' released

The film “Gunday” has been in the news for its star-cast ever since the names were out. The film will show two male actors sharing screen space and they are of ‘Ishaqzaade” fame Arjun Kapoor and “Band Baaja Baraat” actor Ranveer Singh.

The shooting schedule of the film started on the 14th of December, 2012 and now the first look of the film is out. The two male leads are shown facing their back to the viewers, gazing into the Howrah Bridge of Kolkata. One is shown holding a gun while the other has some debris in the hand. Their crude look and bloated physique is evident in the posters.

From the poster one can safely say that the film will provide a lot of action just like the debut film of Arjun Kapoor. Director of the film “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” will be holding the reins of this film.

“Gunday” will have Priyanka Chopra as the female lead. Irrfan Khan will play an ancillary character in the film. Little has been divulged about the storyline. According to the insider sources, it is based in the times of the 70s which will show the two main leads Bala and Bikram who turn from small-time coal thieves and wagon breakers to influential black marketing mafias. With the passage of time they become infamous and get the tag “Gunday”.

The film is completely different from the rom-com “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan” that starred Imran Khan, Ali Zafar and Katrina Kaif and thus is going to be quite a challenging film for its director. It is scheduled for a release in the late 2013. This film is also the first film to start its production since the sudden death of Yash Chopra.

Sushant Singh has also been got on board to play a cameo role. He said, “It is a cameo but since he (the director) is from my college and a good boy so I went up to him, heard about the role. I found it interesting, besides, people have not seen me in such a look and it is a Yash Raj film and the co-actors are also good. So, I said yes.”

Arjun Kapoor had said in an interview before the shoot of this film went on floors, “have been shooting for 'Aurangzeb'. I start 'Gunday' soon, I have not started shooting for it. I am very excited for 'Gunday', it's one of my most exciting projects.”
