First look: Kangana Ranaut as Praful Patel in ‘Simran’

Actress Kangana Ranaut has wrapped up her shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Rangoon’ and is now preparing for her role in National Award winning director Hansal Mehta’s ‘Simran’. Kangana will play a Gujarati character, Praful Patel and her first look from the film has been released.

Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle today and shared the look. “First look of Kangna Ranaut in #Simran, directed by Hansal Mehta. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Shailesh Singh,” he wrote.

The look has the actress smiling with her arms crossed across her chest. She has no make-up on and her curly hair is tied in a top-knot. She is seen wearing a black and white quarter sleeved dress, a thin chain with a pendant around her neck and a wrist watch.

Kangana reportedly plays a housekeeper in ‘Simran’. The revolves around a girl, her ambitions and how she gets addicted to the world of crime. Apparently, Rajkummar Rao, who starred opposite her in ‘Queen’, is being finalised as the lead actor in the movie. However, there hasn’t been any official confirmations in this regard.

Earlier, it was said that the movie is about the life of a Punjabi NRI nurse Sandeep Kaur, who got embroiled in the gambling scenes of US and robbed banks to pay off her debts.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Shailesh Singh, the script of the film has been written by Apurva Asrani. The film will go on floors next month and will be shot in the US.

If Kangana’s character is named Praful Patel, why has the ‘Aligarh’ director named the film ‘Simran’? There seems to be a twist here which will be revealed later.
