Fatwa issued against Salman’s family

The Khan family has to pay a high price for celebrating Ganeshotsav at their home in Bandra, northwest Mumbai. The Khans brought home the idol of Lord Ganesh and worshiped with immense devotion. As it is against their religion, some Muslim organizations issued 'Fatwa' against them for violating their religious beliefs.

Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan blasted before the TV channels questioning the clerics, What is the locus standi of these people? Who are they to question people's religious beliefs? Why don't they issue such a 'fatwa' against terrorists and terrorism, which is un-Islamic? The clerics are talking nonsense.

The Khan family celebrates Ganeshotsav every year but this time the live telecast of the family performing 'aarti' (invocation) and ceremonial immersion of the idol of Lord Ganesh miffed some community leaders. Last year also the family met with the same consequences. The social boycott call was issued in response to a demand by Abdul Rehman Anjaria, member of the Advisory Council, Jama Masjid, New Delhi.
