Famous IPL face offs
IPL has turned up the entertainment quotient of cricket by a few notches higher. More than the game it is the tid bits surrounding the matches that serve the sizzling entertainment in generous platters. The spat or face offs in the IPL is much cherished by the fans and media alike. Even the first edition of IPL started with its due share of skirmishes. We have tried to narrow down the most famous spats that caught the attention of the nation.
Sreesanth v/s Harbhajan
This is the one that started it all. On 25th April, 2008 at Mohali the Kings XI Punjab was playing with the Mumbai team. The match ended in a tie and as the match finished the cameras focused on an incident taking place on the field that was certainly more interesting as the Kings XI Punjab bowler S Sreesanth was slapped by Harbhajan Singh. Following the incident of slapping Sreesanth started crying like a baby. It was the first season of IPL.
Shahrukh Khan v/s the security guard
This incident took place at the Wankhede Stadium, on the 16th of May, 2012. After the end of the match SRK was down at the fields with a group of kids when the security guard blew a whistle and asked him to leave the field with the children. SRK said that the security guard misbehaved and a heated exchange took place. As a result of this SRK was banned to enter the Wankhede stadium for five years by the MCA.
Gautam Gambhir v/s Virat Kohli
This is a recent incident that took place on 11th of April this year at the M Chinnswamy Stadium. The KKR captain Gautam Gambhir had a quarrel with Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore, after the former got out. It seems IPL is now turning the friends into foes.
Munaf Patel v/s all (almost)
It seems Munaf Patel of the Mumbai Indians team is the most entertaining cricketer for his spats rather than his skills at the game. He has been involved in quarrels with many. He had a spat with Deccan Charger’s Amit Mishra. This took place at Wankhede on 14th May 2011.
He had an argument with Kumar Sangakkara of the Deccan Chargers, at a game in Vizag on 9th April, 2012.
Once again Munaf Patel got involved in a brawl with the batsman of Kings XI Punjab Mandeep Singh during a match at Wankhede on 22nd April, 2012. So much so that even the match umpire had to ask him to stop talking.
v/s Praveen Kumar
April 28th, 2012 at the Chennai stadium the boys had a heated
exchange of words and their following gesture was very aggressive as caught on
the photo. It seemed they were going to nudge each other. The boys in the
discussion are Kings XI Punjab batsman Praveen Kumar and Chennai Super King’s Ravichandran
