Entry to Bollywood, the MTV way!
Television is a medium which reaches millions of viewers in our country. The cool and funky MTV VJ’s which enthrall us with their style and entertainment quotient and are highly imitated by the young generation; find their professions of VJ, an easy path to enter Bollywood. Here is a look at some of the VJ-turned-actors in the tinsel town:
The hot Khan is one of the first MTV India VJ’s on the television. She established her position well in the role doing her own interview show and gradually moved to co-anchoring shows with Cyrus Brocha. Apart from that her appearance in the MTV award ceremonies and fashion shows started growing gradually.
Malaika made a quick transition from being a glamour model to an Item girl in Bollywood. Her moment of fame came with the hindi song “Chaiya Chaiya” of the movie “Dil Se” where she shared screen space with SRK. The song was a huge hit and gave the needed recognition and fame to the VJ girl. There was no looking back as she continued working with her item numbers, the most recent hit one being “Munni Badnam Hui”, and cemented her position in Bollywood.
Ranvijay Singh Singha
Ranvijay Singh who comes from a forces background, made his mark in the television world winning the MTV Roadies season 1. Subsequently, he was selected to host the following seasons of the show which is hugely popular among the youth.
He debuted in Bollywood with his 2009 movie “Toss” went for a toss at the box office while his 2011 attempt at a Punjabi movie named “Dharti” did comparatively better.
Ayushmann had spent quite a good duration of time in theatre circuit before entering the television world after winning the MTV Roadies season 2. He did anchored in many of the MTV productions , the most famous being “Wassup Youngistan” whose popularity made it become a daily show.
With his increasing presence in Bollywood award shows and other events , Ayushmann is all set for his Bollywood debut named “Vicky Donor”.
Purab Kohli had done quite many a movies, but the success of “Rock On” helped the most in his career. He debuted with “Supari” in 2003, and acted in a series of movies that did not do well at the box office including “Vastu Shastra” and “13th Floor”. Finally, his acting in the movie “My Brother Nikhil” earned him the much needed acting credentials to launch himself in the industry.
