Eklavya director impressed with Amitabh’s performance gifts him Rs.3.5 crore Rol
Amitabh Bachchan plays a royal guard in the film Eklavya directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The director has always wanted to work with Amitabh and finally got the opportunity while making Eklavya. Vidhu Vinod Chopra was so impressed with Amitabh’s brilliant performance in the film that he has gifted Amitabh a Rs.3.5 crore Rolls Royce car. As a token of his appreciation for delivering such a good performance in Eklavya, Chopra presented Amitabh with such a lavish and expensive gift.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra says “he gifted me a great performance”. However he makes light of the expensive gift by stating that he wishes Amitabh was fond of a less expensive item like a bullock cart. He also humorously adds that he bought a gift for Amitabh to remind him that he too is still waiting for his pending gift. Amitabh was very excited with his new gift and claimed that Chopra was the real Eklavya and hence the car was his ‘guru dakshina’. Eklavya is a modern day drama set in an old fort in Rajasthan which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Vidya Balan, Raima Sen etc. The film had been delayed several times due to a few glitches, but now the film will soon be releasing.
Recently Abhishek received an almost Rs. 2 crore Bentley on his 31st birthday and there were reports that dad Amitabh had given Abhi such an expensive gift. However Amitabh denies giving the Bentley as a gift to Abhi but also refuses to state who had gifted the Bentley to Abhi thus giving rise to various speculations. But another twist to the car angle was when Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh claimed that the Bentley was for his own personal use and that he had paid all custom duties and imported the car from London. However sources claim that acquiring all these cars is just a ploy by the Bachchans to avoid paying tax. However Amar Singh considers the Bachchan family his extended family and hence has kept his car at the Bachchan residence. Also the car gifted to Amitabh is not taxable as it is a gift.
