Dream Girl@65: Dharmendra, Hema Malini’s fairy tale love story

Hema Malini and Darmendra purely stands to the saying, ‘Love Is Blind’. They are married for the past 33 years but still they look like a young and dynamic couple. They broke all the barriers and also broke many hearts to spend the rest of their life together. Hema the epitome of beauty fell for Dharmendra on the set of ‘Tum Haseen Main Jawan’ in 1970. Hema took time before saying yes to Dharmendra for his married man status and being the father of two sons, Sunny and Bobby Deol.
The decision was not easy for Hema but again love made it’s way through ample of barriers and Hema could not stop herself from falling for the most handsome actor of Bollywood. Hema Malini has turned many marriage proposal from actors like Sanjeev Kumar and Jeetendra to tie the knot with Dharmendra. Hema and Dharmendra broke all the barriers to be together . When Dharmendra;s first wife Prakash Kaur refused to divorce Dharmendra, the couple converted into Islam against the will of their parents. Hema’s parents was dead against the marriage as Dharmendra was already married and father of two sons. After the death of Hema’s father, Dharmendra and Hema first married secretly in Muslim style, they had nikaah and then got married in Iyengar style as Hema Malini is an Iyengar.
Her mother Jaya Chakrabarty who was a producer was deeply hurt with Hema’s decision to get married to Dharmendra. In her autobiography, the diva mentioned that she got attracted to Dharmendra because he was silent and strong like her mother. Hema finds her husband very attractive and adds he looks her in the same way he did in their first meeting.
When Hema Malini came on the show Indian Idol 6, she revealed that she fell for Dharmendra in the song 'Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana' due to his cute and crazy dance moves.
Hema and Dharmedra married for the past 33 years but they are still crazy and madly in love with each other as they were before. The couple has two daughters, Esha and Ahana.
