Countdown starts: Don 2, 2011's last big release

Shahrukh KhanWith Don2 set for global mega release and luck of the draw approaching near; excitement together with anticipation has reached its feverish pitch. Don2 with its title tag of ‘the king is back’ comes as a sequel to the preceding remake of Don- released by the similar production house of Ritesh Sidhwani. It is interesting to note how the forthcoming bonanza from the directorial offering of Farhan Akhtar was always in the offing.

Since the making of Don- the prelude to the forthcoming thriller; germs of Don 2 had featured in director’s scheme of things. Despite ceremonial announcement as to the thrilling extravaganza, it took quite a while before Farhan Akhtar could delve into giving the prospect a realistic shape. Having streamlined his creative inputs, Farhan Akhtar decided to jump on the bandwagon- unraveling his  prospective plans for Don2 around February last year.  Peppered with fresh lease of life, storyline of Don2 has been penned by the budding duo of Ameet Mehta in addition to Amrish Shah.

The refreshingly vibrant storyline penned down as a consequent interplay of youth and experience, essentially boils down to the thrilling gimmicks of the underworld linchpin and his all powerful master plan- destruction of opponents and indomitable control over Europe. The don of 2006 to all intents and purpose will be seen taking on a matured ploy in his rise up the escalators of power.

Having a star studded lead cast and an equally powerful supporting cast, the director Farhan Akhtar has all that he needs to catch the bull by its horn. Banking on Sidhwani’s ambitious design to give the thrilling potboiler a three dimensional look, it was not too long before Farhan Akhtar decided to go for a total switchover to the three dimensional mode. Interestingly, Sidhwani’s brush with some of the latest 3d wonders such as Harry Porter & Deathly Hallows accounted for the shift in focus. To give a professional expertise to the quest for 3D mode, Chuck Comisky was involved so that the veteran could pitch in with his resourceful guidance.

With a focus on realistic orientation, the captivating extravaganza had its shooting centering on the commercialized locations of Berlin. While Priyanka Chopra- had undertaken the requisite preparedness to delineate action stunts all by her, the breathtakingly scintillating SRK made use of the internationally resourceful stunt director- Wolfgang. According to sources, the stunt persona is likely to treat the anticipating audience to a new style of fighting. Featuring the ragged looking persona of an all powerful underworld linchpin, it will be interesting to see how action gets better of words.
