Divya Bharti's life on celluloid


Vikram Sandhu of ‘Shaheed Bhagat Singh’ fame is planning to revive Bollywood actress Vidya Bharti’s life on celluloid. The star of the 90’s who charmed millions with her smile and innocent face became overnight star but she died an unnatural death in 1993. Her death is still a mystery. On one cruel night, destiny took her away.

Vikram is ready with his script and he is hunt on a similar face like Divya Bharti. Auditions for the leading lady are on in Karnal, Jammu, Chandigarh and Delhi.

 “My film is based on a young girl in her teens who becomes a star overnight, and how her journey from a small town girl to fame leads her to a drastic stage. It might sound similar to some real character but it is not based on any particular star,” the filmmaker has been quoted as saying.

Divya is a leading star of her time. She began her career with Telugu film ‘Bobbili Raja’. She tasted success in Bollywood with films like ‘Vishwatma’, ‘Shola Aur Shabnam’ and ‘Deewana’. She acted in almost 14 films but destiny took her life at the peak of her career. Divya was married to producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

The film will go on floors in July this year and will be shot in India and Dubai.
