Eminent director Jishu Dasgupta passes away


Eminent Bengali film and TV show director Jishu Dasgupta died after prolonged illness. He was 53. Jishu was fighting against cancer for nine months and finally he gave up on 21st December. He died of cardiac arrest.

Jishu directed popular serials like 'Sishirer Swapno', 'Kuasha Jakhon' and 'Tithir Atithi'. He made several TV serials for Doordarshan and also for private Bengali TV channels, He had been fighting against cancer for the last nine months and was admitted to Peerless Hospital on Nov 25 due to few complications.

"He had been fighting for the last nine months. Towards the end, he had given up. We had admitted him Nov 25 because of liver problems. He had recovered from that but later on his blood pressure had fallen and he was shifted to the critical care unit," a family member told TV channels.

West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee mourned the death of Jishu Dasgupta. "I am deeply saddened at Jishu Dasgupta's untimely demise," said Banerjee.
