Dino Morea to open new nightclub in Worli
After the popular Crêpe Station in Bandra, Dino Morea is on to his next business venture — a new nightclub — in partnership with friend Ketan Kadam. Confirms Dino, “Yes, I am opening another lounge-cum-nightclub with Ketan, in Worli.
Right now we are doing up the interiors and plan to open it around November. We are searching for a name for it; we haven’t got a title for the place yet.”
A source, who knows both Dino and Ketan, says the new joint is in fact a replacement for Ketan’s old nightclub, Fire & Ice (in partnership with Rajiv Shah), located at Phoenix Mills, Lower Parel, which shut down on June 12, 2003. When asked, Dino refused to comment on whether the new place would also be called Fire & Ice.
The new nightclub is located behind Nehru Planetarium, Worli, next to the under-construction Atria Mall. Besides the nightclub, the joint will also boast a discotheque and a restaurant.
“We haven’t decided what the menu will be — it will most likely be Italian fare,” says Dino.
How did the second restaurant come about? “Ketan and I are good friends and he had this property in Worli. He told me he was planning to open a nightclub there, and wanted me to be a part of it.”
Dino co-owns Crêpe Station with brother Niccolo. “A couple of years ago, Nick and I wanted to do something together, as he is a restaurateur and had just come from Europe. He came up with the concept of Crêpe Station and its name, as Mumbai didn’t have anything like this before. Nick is also opening branches in Andheri and Lokhandwala.”
Business or films?
Is the actor turning into a businessman? “I leave that aspect to Nick,” smiles Dino. “He can take over the business side; I just want to concentrate on my films.”
Dino has quite a few films in hand. “I have Pooja Bhatt’s Holiday, her next film (again a musical), Anant Mahadevan’s dramatic Akhsar, Sohail Khan’s Fight Club and Deepak Tijori’s Tom, Dick and Harry.”
What’s happening on the personal front? “That’s fantastic too!” laughs the good-looking actor, who is recovering from a bout of flu.
“I am single, fancy-free and enjoying life. I have just bought a home in Bandra; I’m settling in right now, buying furniture and stuff,” signs off Dino.
