Dhanush to star in ‘Tanu Weds Manu' sequel

Southern star Dhanush who made a good debut in Bollywood with Anand L. Rai’s film ‘Raanjhanaa’ will be making an appearance in another film by the director.  Anand L. Rai is all set to make the sequel of his hit romantic comedy film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’. Earlier there were reports that the director does not have the rights to the sequel.  But those reports have now been proven false and the project is going on as planned.

The shooting has been scheduled to kick off in September in the city of Lucknow. The details of Dhanush’s involvement in the project have not yet been revealed.  He could be doing a cameo role or appearing in a song. For the director having Dhanush on board is mostly personal as he is very fond of the young actor. Dhanush on the other hand, considers Anand L. Rai as his mentor. Dhanush has rented a flat in the same building where Rai stays.

In ‘Tanu weds Manu 2’ Kangana Ranaut and Madhavan will be reprising their roles from the original. In the film, Kangana is reportedly playing a double role for the first time in her career and it would require her to sport a de-glam avatar.  While Kangana has experimented with her looks, this time it will be totally different. Few months ago a source close to the project had said, “Kangana loves to don various looks for her films. From playing the mutant Kaya in ‘Krrish 3’ to a sweet and simple Delhi girl in her next release ‘Queen’, we have seen her in various avatars. When Anand L Rai narrated the ‘Tanu Weds Manu 2’ script to her, she got very excited. The story takes off from where TWM ended. Now Kangana (Tanuja or Tanu) and Madhavan (Manoj or Manu) are a married couple but there is a love triangle with Kang’s in it. She will be sporting buck-teeth for this role which is completely different from her glamorous, fashionista image.”

Kangana will be doing a completely unrelated double role.  Her characters are not twin sisters or related in any way. The look of the second character will be determined by the director Anand L. Rai and designer Reza Shariffi. On her part, Kangana said, “I love to experiment with my looks for all my films and here too I am getting an opportunity to do the same. Though I am very excited about playing two roles in the sequel, it is too early to say anything more right now.”
