Deepika to represent India in New York

Deepika Padukone, the popular actress of Indian Cinema has been selected to represent India in New York. To celebrate India’s 61st Independence Day, on August 17, she will be leading the 28th India Day Parade in New York as grand marshal.
Deepika has just stepped into Bollywood and is receiving such a great honor at the budding stage, she is elated. The year seems to be fabulous for her as along with awards for her debut film Om Shanti Om, she is bestowed with this grand responsibility. Last year, it was Priyanka who was the grand Marshal but this year it went to Deepika.
This annual parade is usually organized by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) and attracts thousands of people every year. It is considered the biggest event outside India. Many dignitaries are invited to grace the occasion. One of the special guests of the event will be former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
