Deepika plonks on Arjun’s lap

Shutterbugs were aflutter and headlines were made when two stars who were supposed to be merely launching a song from their movie ended up in a rather intimate pose.

Tinsel Town’s latest smouldering heartthrob found himself in a rather awkward position when Bollywood bombshell Deepika Padukone and ‘Finding Fanny’ co-star Deepika Padukone sat on his lap when the duo were at a song launch in a multiplex in Mumbai. Perhaps the most interesting reaction to the entire episode was that of Arjun Kapoor’s. The Kapoor boy visibly squirmed and looked at Deepika’s derriere almost as if he were thinking, ‘Why is that on my lap?’ One doesn’t know why the leggy model turned actress decided to use her leading man as a chair. Was there a dearth of seating in the multiplex? Was Deepika living in the moment? Or was it a typical masala publicity stunt?

From the beginning of the event, the pair appeared very chummy. Both took time off from the crowd to take selfies, possibly to share on social media. Deepika walked in looking like a breath of fresh air, dressed in a summery halter neck floral gown. Her character in the movie, Angie, dresses in a similar manner. Arjun also donned attire similar to his character. He wore grey denims, a black tee, and a red and black checked shirt. Director Homi Adjania couldn’t possibly ask for a more interesting song launch, although one is yet to ascertain if it was contrived.

‘Finding Fanny’ is set to be released on September 1st. Others starring in the movie are Nasseruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, and Pankaj Kapoor. The film centers around five quirky characters who live in a picturesque village in Goa. The oldest of the quintet realises that a letter posted to his lady love 46 years ago had not been delivered. Eager to deliver the letter that shaped his life, the man decides to go on a road trip to have his say to his true love. Four of his fellow villagers, bored with their mundane lives decide to embark on the adventure with him. Thus begins an exciting journey. On the way, there are many amusing as well as emotional moments.

Directed by Homi Adjania, the film is produced by Dinesh Vijan. The leading couple have already created ripples with their behaviour off screen, it remains to be seen if there is any on screen chemistry. The entire film crew will certainly hope so.
