Deepika Padukone will not star opposite Hrithik Roshan
Deepika Padukone who has made her debut in Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan was being considered for a role opposite Hrithik Roshan in a film to be directed by Anurag Basu. However the actress will not be a part of the film as she does not fit the role. Rakesh Roshan who is producing the film confirms this saying "We may work with Deepika for some other film."
Deepika made a commendable debut in Om Shanti Om and after working with Shahrukh, she was no doubt looking forward to work opposite another big star, Hrithik Roshan. The buzz was on that Rakesh Roshan was considering Deepika for a role opposite Hrithik, either in Krrish 2 or another film to be produced by him. But now according to sources, Deepika has been dropped as she does not fit the role. The film was to be directed by Anurag Basu and he says "We are yet scouting for the female lead. Deepika didn't fit the role as it is quite a complex character." However the Roshans hope to work with Deepika some time in the future.
However now the Roshans are trying to cast a non-Indian for the role of the female lead as it involves someone who is well versed with salsa dancing and they have already auditioned a few girls. Hrithik was extremely keen to work with director Anurag Basu and has wanted to do a film with him for some time now. The film will be a romantic-action thriller and shooting is supposed to begin in March 2008. Hrithik Roshan, who has just completed his epic film Jodha Akbar, will also be seen performing a lot of salsa. Hrithik is currently in Singapore recuperating after his prolonged knee injury . And after taking a short break, he hopes to return in the New Year with a big bang. Jodha Akbar is slated for a January 2008 release.
