Deepika Padukone was left in tears on the sets of ‘Ram Leela’

Deepika is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period film ‘Padmavati’. It is her third collaboration with the maverick filmmaker after 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela - Ram-Leela' and Bajirao Mastani’. But Deepika was reduced to tears during her first project with Bhansali.

Deepika played a feisty Gujarati girl, Leela in the 2013 film and she broke down on the sets of the film on her first day of shoot after last minute changes were made in her dialogues. Garima Wahal and Siddharth Singh, dialogue writers of ‘Ram Leela’ revealed this in an interview with IANS.

"It was day one of shoot for her. Deepika had broken down because of some last-minute changes in the dialogues. Last-minute changes are a favourite thing with Sanjay sir. We guess he does it to derive a certain spontaneity out of actors and to break their rhythm," Garima was quoted as saying.

Garima added that Deepika had learnt the previous set of dialogues and needed an entire day to work her way around the changed script. “She's usually very good with memorising her lines but the change meant completely upsetting her pattern. We sat with her that entire day and worked the lines till she got fully comfortable with that," she said.

Recalling the particular scene, Siddharth added, "This is the scene where Ram and Leela meet for the first time as heads of their clans and divide their business periphery. What she did with the scene is something that's out for the world to see. We must add that she's a brave artiste."

Ranveer Singh featured as the daredevil Ram in the movie, which was also his first outing with Bhansali as well as his rumoured girlfriend.

The two writers have also penned the dialogues for Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon- starrer ‘Raabta’, in which Deepika makes a gorgeous special appearance in the title song of the film. Directed by Dinesh Vijan, ‘Raabta’ is set to hit screens on June 9.
