Deepika Padukone refuses to work with TV actor in ‘Padmavati’?
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have been reportedly signed on for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film ‘Padmavati’, but the filmmaker is yet to officially announce the cast. Apparently, the cast for the role of Padmavati’s husband has not been finalised.
Latest buzz has it that Deepika, who will essay the titular character of Padmavati, has refused to work with a television actor who was supposed to play her husband in the movie. The ‘Bajirao Mastani’ actress wants someone with a big name for the character of her husband.
“Initially, a TV actor was to be signed, but Deepika put her foot down. A random actor from television won’t do for her. While she has no scenes with Ranveer, she shares some intense romantic and lovemaking scenes with her husband, so she wants a big star as her hero,” Bollywoodlife quoted a source as saying.
However, most of the actors are not willing to play the leading lady’s onscreen husband as it is a week role. Also, no A-list actor is interested in playing second fiddle to the heroine, the report stated.
Earlier, Vicky Kaushal of ‘Masaan’ fame was also approached for the role, but he turned it down as he felt the role was too short in comparison to the ones written for Ranveer and Deepika.
The report further stated that the first schedule is with Deepika and her husband's character. The scenes between Deepika and Ranveer would be shot separately as they never meet in the film.
‘Padmavati’ is a period drama which will revolve around the character of Sultan Alauddin Khilji - the second sultan of the Khilji dynasty and former ruler of the Delhi sultanate - and his obsessive love for Rani Padmavati of Mewar - who was renowned for her beauty and intellect.
The movie brings together the super-hit combo of Ranveer, Deepika and Bhansali for the third time after ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela - Ram Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
The movie will go on floors in September and will hit the big screen on 15 December 2017.
Meanwhile, Ranveer will be next seen in Aditya Chopra's 'Befikre' opposite Vaani Kapoor, while Deepika's Hollywood debut film 'xXx: The Return of Xander Cage' is slated to release in January, 2017.
