‘Dangal’ poster: Aamir Khan poses as proud father


The makers of Aamir Khan starrer film ‘Dangal’ have released a new poster of the sports drama and it is high on woman empowerment. While the previous posters only showed Aamir’s two different looks in the film, the new one features the actor as a proud father and is the main poster which has the title of the film. 

The ‘PK’ actor took to Twitter on Monday, July 4 to unveil the poster. It features Aamir’s on-screen daughters played by Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh. On top of the poster, there is a line in Hindi ‘Mhaari chhoriyaan chhoron se kum hain ke?’ which may be translated as ‘Are my girls any less than boys?’

Aamir also captioned the poster ‘Mhaari chhoriyaan chhoron se kum hain ke?’ on the micro-blogging site.

‘Dangal’ is a biopic based on the life of Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. He is also the coach of Indian women wrestlers Geeta and Babita. Aamir essays the role of the wrestler, while Fatima and Sanaya will enact the roles of his daughters. Two other girls - Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar who would play the younger versions of Geeta and Babita. 


Aamir had underwent drastic physical transformation for his role in the film. He trained hard and gained up to 95 kg to fit his role of an older Mahivir Singh Phogat. Then her shed the extra weight to play the younger version of the wrestler.

Popular television actress Sakshi Tanwar also features in the role of Mahavir's wife, while Rajkumar Role will be seen as a coach in the sports biopic. 

Co-produced by Aamir and Siddharth Roy Kapur and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Dangal’ is slated to release on December 23.
