...Dev was overwhelmed with these awards and said, "I am very happy and it would be a tremendous boost to me for now I would more than ever enjoy making films". Hero-cum-director Dev Anand was chosen for the Phalke Award for 2002 for his contribution to cinema.
"It is very nice to be getting this award and it had to come either today or tomorrow and those who are deserving cannot be ignored. My biggest award is my work and also the appreciation and love of the people which I get in abundance." he added. Adopting the philosophy of Raju guide, a role he played in his super hit film 'Guide' based on R K Narayan's novel. Dev says he is very satisfied and feels nice. "When I am sad, I don't feel bad, I am never worried and even remaining aloof, I view everything in perspective," he said.
When asked about his forthcoming movie, the actor-turned-director said, "The new film is a story of great human relationship in the backdrop of America. The specialty of this film is its music, which has the potentiality to make the film a super hit". According to him, the film is scripted in collaboration with an American writer to bring out the American culture in the film.
Commenting on the changes in the style of romance in the films over the years, Dev said: Romance never changes. The hands are held in the same way and even the kiss is the same, only the technology of showing changes. About his choice of actors in his film, Dev said, "If the new actors do not get break, how will they become stars even if they have the potential".
