'Dabangg 2' all set to hit screens this Christmas
“Dabangg 2” will be releasing on the 21st of December this year. Normally all of Salman’s films release during Eid, but this film is going to change that norm. The first and the last time ever any Salman Khan film released during Christmas had been his debut film “Maine Pyar Kiya”.
This film stars Sonakshi Sinha alongside Salman and the story is set in the rustic environment. Salman plays a corrupt but a benevolent cop named Chulbul Pandey, whereas Sonakshi plays Rajjo, his wife. The film blends comedy and action, a formula that has been working best for films these days. The first instalment, “Dabangg”, had been directed by Abhinav Kashyap, brother of director Anurag Kashyap. However, he refrained from directing the sequel, and that’s when Arbaaz Khan had to step in.
The songs have been scored by the duo of Sajid-Wajid. There are five songs in the film which have been hugely popular. When we think of “Dabangg”, the song “Munni Badnaam hui” comes to our mind. Similarly there had to be something to fill that space for “Dabangg 2” as well. Thus Kareena Kapoor had been brought on board to perform for the item number for this film that is titled “Fevicol se”. This song has been her first-ever outing in a film after her marriage.
“Fevicol se” keeps up to the crude and innovative lyrics and raw but not overt kind of dancing. The song is entertaining and so are the dance-steps in this song. Kareena looks beautiful and performs well. Salman also features in this song performing some pelvic thrusts. This song has been choreographed by Farah Khan who had also done “Munni badnaam hui”.
Salman has been giving blockbusters one after the other. “Ek tha Tiger” released this year during Eid which amassed 180 crores. This amount had been huge for any Hindi language film to collect. Clearly “Dabangg 2” is being expected to break all the records of his previous films and gross 200 crores.
Arbaaz Khan, who debuts as a director with this film had said, “You would see a lot of style coming along with the action and it would be in the kind of space that Chulbul Pandey as a character and 'Dabangg' as a brand stand for. Having said that, while action is an integral part of the film, it would be not more than what is necessary. There is a story running behind all the action.”
We hope Salman and the film is able
to live up to the audience expectation.
