Comedian Kapil Sharma says no to sex
While comedians are often known to ‘push the envelope’, it seems Kapil Sharma is not yet ready to do that. The popular host of ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ has apparently turned a bit prudish and refused to promote the upcoming Bollywood erotic thriller ‘Hate Story 2’ on his show. Produced under the banner of T-Series, and directed by Vishal Pandya, the film has popular TV actors Surveen Chawla and Jay Bhanushali playing the lead roles. The film is slated to release on 18th July. Since Kapil Sharma’s show has become a popular and effective platform to promote upcoming films, the actors wanted to appear on the show and since they are both television actors, the producers also felt it was a good idea.
But when Kapil Sharma was approached to have Surveen Chawla and Jay Bhanushali on the show, he reportedly refused because of the film’s plot and sexual content. A source close to the show has said, “They refused to integrate with Hate Story 2 as they felt that the subject of the film was risqué and bold. The film folk were told that CNWK is meant for family audiences, but at the same time Kapil cracks jokes with sexual innuendos on the show.” The source also added, “As Jay and Surveen are TV actors, the film’s makers felt that it was a good way to promote their show. But they were taken aback when their request was turned down.”
This is not the first time Kapil has done such a thing. Last year in December, he refused to have Sunny Leone on the show to promote her film ‘Jackpot’. The main reason for his refusal was her background as an adult film star despite the fact that mainstream Bollywood stars including Shahrukh Khan has shown willingness to work with her. Things eventually changed however as Kapil was seen interacting with Sunny during a celebrity cricket match months later. Finally in March 2014, Sunny Leone appeared in ‘Comedy Nights’ to promote ‘Ragini MMS 2’ along with the producer of her film, Ekta Kapoor.
Co-incidentally, Sunny Leone also is a part of ‘Hate Story 2’. She has performed the item song ‘Pink Lips’ in the film. There was also an offer from the film’s producers to send Sunny as a substitute but there was no reply from the channel. The source said, “As Sunny has done the item number, Pink Lips in Hate Story, the makers were willing to send Sunny instead, but there was no keenness shown in return.” Both the channel and the production house remains tight lipped about the issue.
