‘Cocktail’ Movie Success Bash

The “Cocktail” Team celebrated the success of their movie at a success bash hosted by Deepika Padukone. The Movie was declared a hit after it collected more than 35 crore in the first weekend .The Success bash was attended by Imtiaz Ali the storywriter of the film, director Homi Adajania, co-stars Diana Penty, Arjun Rampal, Suzzane Roshan and music directors Pritam and Sulaiman.

Dippy looked stunning in a blue dress, partying around in her usual jovial mood, as in the movie. Diana Penty wore a white shirt and blue jeans, she looked chic and beautiful.

Though the movie was aimed at the urban audience it has done quite well in the tire-two cities as well. It proved that the audience everywhere has embraced this cute love story. The occupancy at the multiplexes was near about 90 percent in the first week with several shows going houseful. In the first week it collected well over 55 crore making it the highest ever collection ever for Saif Ali Khan, be it as a solo or multi-starrer. His “Agent Vinod” being the second highest with 36.75 crore net in its first week of release.

Cocktail did good business abroad as well. In USA it grossed dollar 220,000 in the first day alone, while in Australia it was Australian dollar 117,014 .In UK it collected GBP 201,627 in the first two days.

It was critically acclaimed as a “flat romance movie”, and it has stirred good response from the Gen Next. The story revolves around Saif (Gautam), Veronica (Deepika Padukone) and Mira (Diana Penty). After her husband (played by Randeep Hooda) abandons her, Mira moves to live with her friend Veronica till she finds a footing in the foreign land of England. Gautam enters the plot, who is a software engineer by profession and a flirt by hobby.

Veronica and Gautam get into an exotic relationship but trouble breaks when Gautam’s mother (played by Dimple Kapadia) arrives. To show that he is in love with an ideal Indian girl Gautam says he is in love with Mira. Soon a ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ feel takes over. The second half involves the usual “rona dhona” before culminating in a happy romantic ending.

Also the peppy numbers “tumi ho bandhu” and foot tapping music have done wonders for the movie. It is to be seen if it can maintain the same run with the release of “The dark night rises”.
