Chitrangada Singh imitates Marilyn Monroe at ICW 2014
The India Couture Week 2014 has been graced by several stunning Bollywood beauties. The latest addition to the list is Chitrangada Singh. The dusky beauty was part of the Grand Finale show as a showstopper and her ramp appearance was inspired by the late Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. It was organized by Shree Raj Mahal Jewelers and Chitrangada showcased a diamond neckpiece created by them.
For the ramp walk Chitrangada Singh wore a black strapless gown created by designers Gauri and Nainika. Her beautiful look was even more enhanced by the dazzling diamonds on her neck. After the show Chitrangada said, “Yes I tried to replicate her (Marilyn) but it is not easy. Doing Marilyn is not easy for anyone. She was someone who has inspired many but I tried to give my best… The whole idea was to give a feel of Marilyn Monroe. The diamond neck piece was the reason we decided to do it on stage. I was nervous because no one can do it the way Marilyn did but I had fun. I am glad people appreciated it."
When asked about her upcoming projects in Bollywood, She said that there are three projects with which she is involved. She said, "The first is 'Aur Devdas', then I am doing a film tentatively titled 'Banddokbaaz' opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui and one with Randeep Hooda.” Her last film was 'I, Me Aur Main' in 2013 which failed to do well at the box office.
Apart from Chitrangada Singh, the other showstopper of the event was Bengali beauty, Bipasha Basu. Bipasha wore a bridal look for the evening and she looked stunning in a Rohit Bal lehanga and matching wedding jewelry. After the show Bipasha said, “Whenever I wear Indian outfit, I make sure of accessorizing it well with jewelry and today I am feeling like a queen. I started my career as a model and it's great to come back to Delhi again and walk on ramp. It was such a great welcome that I felt emotional.”
Her bridal look also naturally evoked questions regarding
her wedding and she was asked whether she would like to wear similar pieces on
the day of her wedding. To this question Bipasha replied, “I would love to look
like a Bengali bride and I don't mind if I get the chance to wear such
beautiful looking pieces. After all, every bride wants to look her best on the
most special day of her life."
