Check Out: Sushant Singh Rajput as detective Byomkesh Bakshi

Sushant Singh Rajput is on a high after the success of his films ‘Kai Po Che’ and ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’. Now he is busy with his new role as the Bengali detective Byomkesh Bakshi. Byomkesh is a detective character created by the author Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay and is set in the early and middle years of twentieth century.  The character of Byomkesh can be described as the Indian version of world famous Sherlock Holmes. His adventure stories are still popular in Bengal and it is considered to be a great honor to play such a role. Earlier the iconic Bengali actor Uttam Kumar portrayed the role of Byomkesh in the movie ‘Chiriyakhana’.

Sushant has worked hard to get into the skin of the Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi in the period drama. He is seen wearing the dhoti and kurta in the distinct Bengali style and walking around in great élan holding his dhoti. The sharp yet calm features of the actor help him to look more Bengali. Sushant has even kept a narrow moustache according to the demand of the role and he looks sort of cute with it.

The movie is directed by Dibakar Banerjee whose few of the earlier works were ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’, ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’ and ‘Love Sex aur Dhokha’. The movie is jointly produced by the power house Yash Raj Films and Dibakar Banerjee.

Speaking about the selection of Sushant for the role of Byomkesh, the director said that, “Sushant Singh Rajput has that dormant volcano thing about him that is just right for my Byomkesh. He looks so quiet, so self-absorbed and withdrawn - till you challenge him. Then he explodes and becomes the most dangerous man in the world - at least for the criminals.”

The film is set in the old Kolkata of the 1940s, when the city was coping with the ill effects of the Great War. The detective Byomkesh fights a villain in the film who is a genius and hell bent on destroying the world. The movie tells the tale of how Byomkesh unfolds the ploy of the evil genius and saves the world.

The film is all set to release this year on December. It will be a treat in the holiday season. We can hardly wait to see the movie on the big screen along with all the fans of Byomkesh Bakshi and Hindi movies.
