‘Chashme Baddoor’ earns 19.20 crore in the first weekend
‘Chashme Baddoor’ starring Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Anupam Kher, Rishi Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu and Divyendu Sharma and directed by ace comedy director David Dhawan starts off well at the box-office. The movie earned Rs 19 crore in its opening weekend. An official remake of the 1983 film of the same name directed by Sai Paranjpaee, the film marks the Bollywood debut of southern actress Taapsee.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures. "#ChashmeBaddoor collected approx Rs 19.20 cr nett in its opening weekend. Breakup: Fri 5.18 cr, Sat 6.27 cr, Sun *estimates* 7.75 cr. Fab!"
He also wrote: "#ChashmeBaddoor passes 'Monday test'. Getting reports from various circuits that Mon has begun on a super note. Better than Fri morn shows!"
Reportedly made at a budget of Rs.17 crore, the movie has already picked up the money spend to make it and it is showing an upward trend. "#ChashmeBaddoor *actuals* Fri 5.18 cr, Sat 6.27. Total: Rs 11.45 cr. Excellent!," Taran Adarsh tweeted earlier.
Sunday collections was highly profitable, Taran tweeted,
"#ChashmeBaddoor has had a rocking Sunday. Better than Fri and Sat. Super
growth in every circuit. Numbers being compiled!"
Breaking up the collections in north India, "@taran_adarsh: #ChashmeBaddoor Rajasthan: Fri 31 lacs, Sat 30 lacs, Sun 48 lacs ... Punjab: Fri 49 lacs, Sat 60 lacs, Sun 71 lacs.."
The film is also getting good response outside India. "@taran_adarsh: #ChashmeBaddoor takes a fab start in Pakistan. Thu previews + Fri collects 47 lacs."
Chashme Baddoor, produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is touted as the comeback movie of director David Dhawan.
