CCL: Bipasha grooves with Andrew Symonds

Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) is a men’s cricket league (non-professional) in which eight teams comprising of film celebrities contest.

This league was initiated in the year 2011. This year, 2013, has witnessed its third season. Bipasha Basu has been signed on as its brand ambassador. On this occasion she said, “I have always been very interested in fitness and sports and Celebrity cricket league is a superb concept where celebrities who are passionate about the sport get to play , I can’t wait for the season to begin and will be attending as many matches as possible.”

At the Reliance Mediaworks Studio in Filmcity Salman Khan inaugurated CCL 2013. He was accompanied at the event by his on and off girlfriend Katrina Kaif.

At the curtain raiser Salman Khan performed. Along with him there was Katrina and Bipasha who too performed. There were also seen other celebrities at the event- Genelia D’Souza, Sridevi, Chitrangada Singh, Aftab Shivdasani, Suniel Shetty, Sanath Jayasuriya and Kangana Ranaut.

Sohail Khan who has been part of CCL since its inception also invited his brother Salman’s arch-rival Shah Rukh Khan. He said, “He’s (SRK) a part of the industry and he is a very big star. He has his own IPL (Indian Premier League) team and if he would like to come and support CCL or any of the teams, there’s going to be games in Kolkata, Pune.  We all are part of one industry, I still call him Shah Rukh Bhai, and things don’t change. We all are a part of the industry and we all are friends, he is most welcome. We’ll be glad if he supports us.”

The third season’s opening ceremony will be held on the 9th of February at Kochi. Mumbai Heroes and Kerala Strikers will play the first cricket game at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium.

The eight teams are Bengal Tigers, Chennai Rhinos, Karnataka Bulldozers, Mumbai Heroes, Telugu Warriors, Veer Marathi, Kerala Strikers and Bhojpuri Dabanggs.

At the curtain raiser actresses from the South like Lakshmi Rai, Shruti Haasan, Charmi and Kajal Aggarwal were also spotted. Ayushmann Khurana and Ritesh Deshmukh played brilliant hosts at the ceremony.

Bipasha Basu gave a fantastic dance performance. She also taught Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds some steps from her song “Beedi Jalaile” from Omkara.

All in all the preparations for this league have started with full gusto. We hope that this edition too turns out to be a success.
