CBFC cuts Aishwarya-Ranbir’s steamy scenes from ‘ADHM’

Karan Johar’s directorial ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is already facing trouble with a political party threatening to disrupt its release due to the presence of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Now, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has also snipped off quite a few steamy scenes from the film.

The CBFC on Wednesday (Oct. 12) granted the romantic drama a ‘UA’ certificate, but only after ‘objectionable’ intimate scenes between Aishwarya Rai and Ranbir Kapoor were edited out. At least three pivotal steamy scenes, including one shown in the trailer, have been deleated from the film.

Quoting a source close to the development, a report stated, “Karan Johar personally attended the censor viewing of his film. He wanted to make sure not a single moment was tampered with. However, the censor board members, while appreciating the film’s mature theme and high level of aesthetics, objected to some steamy moments between Aishwarya and Ranbir.”

Karan was upset and put up a brave fight arguing that the scenes were very integral to the plot of the film, but in vain. The board was adamant and Karan had to finally give in.

However, Karan’s troubles are far from over in the face of the threat by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). As per a DNA report, the director was mulling over the idea to swap Fawad’s face with that of Saif Ali Khan using replacement technology. But it is too late as the film’s release is barely two weeks away.

The report also stated that Karan plans to tweak the script of the film and change the nationality of Aishwarya and Anushka Sharama’s characters, who originally were Pakistani citizens, but will now be shown as belonging to another country.

‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is set to hit the screens on October 28.
