Breather for Salman as court stays proceedings against him
An activist, Hemant Patil had filed a complaint against Salman Khan in a Bandra court for posting his court proceedings on his website called ‘www.salmankhanfiles.com’. He alleged that the actor has committed contempt of court by putting the proceedings of the court on webpage. The matters of the court were subjudice.
Salman Khan then filed a petition in the high court seeking riddance of the complaint which was filed against him by activist Hemant Patil. Now, in a major breather to the actor, the Bombay High Court has stayed the proceedings in a magistrate court quashing the complaint filed against the actor for uploading court proceedings online. This happened on Monday.
According to the reports, Salman Khan’s lawyer, Ravi Kadam said that the actor was committed to sessions court as his cases are being dealt there only. So, the magistrate has no jurisdiction to issue any kind of notice to his client on the basis of complaint filed by the activist.
Justice ML Tahilyani hence stayed the proceedings against actor Salman Khan until any further orders. He also gave a time frame of three weeks to activist Hemant Patil to file a reply to ‘Salman's petition which prayed for quashing the proceedings in a magistrate's court in Bandra’.
Salman mentioned in his petition that he created the website called ‘salmankhanfiles’ to report the correct happenings of the court. He said that he has been soft target of media. Media at times has reported wrong news about him. He just wanted people to be correctly informed. And so he has not committed contempt of court.
The Bandra magistrate had earlier issued a notice to the actor on 10th July after hearing the complaint filed by the activist.
Salman Khan is embroiled in a number of court cases. He is facing trials for 2002 hit and run case. Apart from this, he is also embroiled in hunting a blackbuck in 1998, which is an endangered species.
Due to his court proceedings, Salman’s movie shooting is getting delayed. He is currently shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Kick’. The schedule got delayed due to his ill health and his court cases. Earlier this month, Salman was not permitted to fly for UK as he did not get his VISA cleared. But later, after a lot of running around, he was permitted to leave the country. He got tourist visa for UK.
