Asha Bhosle’s daughter Varsha commits suicide
Asha Bhosle’s daughter Varsha Bhosle committed suicide at her residence in Mumbai today. She shot herself to death at Mumbai's Peddar road-based residence Prabhu Kunj. She was a divorcee. She shot on her head and it is not yet known from where she has got the weapon.
Varsha shot herself at the ‘Prabhu Kunj’ building in Peddar Road, the same building in which
singer and her aunt Lata Mangeshkar also lives.
During the incident, Asha Bhosle was not in India. She was in Singapore for some concerts. Her aunt Lata Mangeshkar was also not in her residence. Varsha was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead. Body of Varsha has been taken to JJ hospital for post mortem.
Varsha had a troubled married life. She was divorced from from freelance sports writer Hemant Kenkre and reportedly had a history of depression.
Also in 2008 Varsha tried to kill herself by taking overdose of sleeping pills but was later saved by doctors.
Born in 1956, Varsha was a freelance journalist who
had worked with leading dailies as a columnist. She also worked as a playback
singer in Hindi and Marathi movies and also appeared in concerts with her
mother.She wrote columns for Rediff, The Sunday Observer and for Gentleman magazine in
1993. She also wrote a little for the Times of India.
