Box office day 5: Ranveer Singh’s ‘Simmba’ soars high, earns Rs 124.5 crore

Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan’s new outing ‘Simmba’ helmed by Rohit Shetty is flying high and high. The film opened with an average reviews but audience showered their love on the movie. The film also got the advantage of New Year release and it is unstoppable at the box-office.

On the fifth day, the action-drama collected Rs 124.54 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Wednesday and wrote: “#Simmba starts 2019 with a big bang... Runs riot at the BO on Day 5 [1 Jan 2019]... Is truly UNSTOPPABLE... Ranveer’s fourth film to cross Rs 100 cr mark... Fri 20.72 cr, Sat 23.33 cr, Sun 31.06 cr, Mon 21.24 cr, Tue 28.19 cr. Total: Rs 124.54 cr. India biz.”

Not only in the domestic market, ‘Simmba’ did a stupendous business in the international market as well. “#Simmba is super-strong in international markets... 4-day Overseas total is close to 40 cr... Day 1: $ 1.884 mn Day 2: $ 1.590 mn Day 3: $ 1.492 mn Day 4: $ 779k Total: $ 5.745 mn [ 39.85 cr],” Adarsh had tweeted on Tuesday.

Rohit Shetty, who is known for his signature style and termed as 100 crore director kept his tag of 100 crore director intact this time as well. ‘Simmba’ is his 8th film to cross 100 crore benchmark.

In ‘Simmba’, Ranveer plays a corrupt cop but he transforms after a woman whom he knows gets raped. Sara Ali Khan plays his love interest while Sonu Sood plays an antagonist.
