Some marriage ceremonies were simple while some others turned into some kind of luxurious extravaganza. Let us jot down some of the weddings of this year that will be remembered in the times to come.
Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza- the two had been dating for 8 years since the time they did their debut film “Tujhe Meri Kasam” and the world was kept in dark from the whole happening. Even some of the close friends claimed that they never knew about the affair between the two until they declared they were going to get married.
The marriage was solemnized on the 3rd of February this year. Tinsel town celebs came in to mark their attendance. There was a sangeet ceremony, a Maharashtrian wedding, a church wedding and a reception that was held.
Celebrities like Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Bipasha Basu, Shilpa Shetty, and the whole Bachchan family came to wish the couple.
Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani- The couple married on the 29th of June. Bharat does not belong to the film industry, but is a diamond merchant. The wedding was a traditional temple wedding at Juhu’s Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple.
The couple had been dating for quite some time before they eventually tied the knot. Her brothers Sunny and Bobby Deol were not present at the wedding, but Abhay Deol stepped up to perform all the rites of that of a brother.

The sangeet ceremony and mehendi was followed by a sit-down dinner. Then the couple got registered after which the ‘nikaah’ or wedding ceremony was held on the 16th of October. Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan, Amrita Arora, Preity Zinta, and Sonam Kapoor among many others were seen attending the party. The reception-Dawat-e-walima- was held at Delhi. The function was attended by high profile people from politics.
