Big B’s reply to Justice Katju’s “nothing in the head” comment
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has done diverse roles of comedy, romance and action with equal ease, most happily accepted Justice Markandey Katju's sharp criticism of him that he has “nothing in his head.”
When asked about the former Supreme Court Judge’s comment on him, Big B said, “He (Katju) is right I don't have anything inside my mind. We can be a part of what is going on and work towards it. But he is right. My head is ‘khallas’ (finished),” He is right...My head is 'khalas' (finished)."
Last Saturday, September 17, Justice Katju, had posted on his Facebook page, "Amitabh Bachchan is a man with nothing in his head, and since most media persons praise him, I doubt there is anything in their heads too."
Speaking at the press meet to talk about his latest release ‘Pink’, Amitabh Bachchan revealed that Justice Katju was his senior at school and there is no bad blood between them.
"We were in same school. He was my senior. There is no rivalry between us. I will have to fold my hands and stand before him. He is a judge," the 73-year-old actor was quoted as saying by IANS.
Meanwhile, Justice Katju posted a long explanatory note when he was asked to elaborate his comment on the legendary actor.
He wrote, “Karl Marx had said that religion is the opium of the masses, used as a drug by the rulers to keep the masses pacified, so that they may not revolt. But the Indian masses need several drugs to keep them pacified, one is not enough for them. Religion is only one of such drugs. Some other drugs which are needed are films, the media, cricket, astrology, babas, etc.”
“Amitabh Bachchan's films, like those of Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, etc are like drugs, they take the people to a world of make believe, and they are therefore very useful to our rulers since they keep people pacified.
“Apart from being a good actor, what is there in Amitabh Bachchan? Has he any scientific ideas for solving the country's massive problems? There are none. From time to time he appears on some media channels giving sermons and homilies, and from time to time he is shown to be doing good deeds, but who cannot do this with tons of money?” the post read.
