After the lull of Ramzan, moviegoers can expect a storm of films. Earlier, Karan Johar's Shah Rukh Khan-starring tearjerker Kal Ho Naa Ho was supposed to clash with the gritty cop thriller Khakee [continued...]

But now the impending clash of the titans has been averted, with Khakee moving forward to December. Not everyone associated with the Khakee is happy with this turn of events.

Says Akshay Kumar, " Kal Ho Naa Ho and Khakee are two different films. Why should one be a problem for the other? I was all for the two being released together."

"That's precisely my point," avers Kal Ho Naa Ho producer Karan Johar. "I saw no problem in the two films being released simultaneously.

"Didn't my Kuch Kuch Hota Hai release on the same day as David Dhawan's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan ? And didn't both do well? When I was asked as a moviegoer which of the two films I'd like to see first, I replied, Khakee , because I've already seen Kal Ho Naa Ho .

"From what I've heard, Khakee 's overseas distributor Kishore Lulla decided that it should be moved forward. A section of the press is implying that Shah Rukh Khan had something to do with the decision. That's so preposterous. Do you think he's bothered?"

Then there's Feroz Khan's Janasheen . As the release date approaches, the film has lost a lot of its shine.

It was meant to be Celina Jaitley's launchpad. But Suniel Shetty's Khel has more or less killed all interest in Jaitley's beachside bacchanalia.

With the ouster of the mammoth star-studded Khakee from the auspicious Eid week, the field is clear for Shah Rukh Khan to strike again ... unless one takes Sawan Kumar's India-Pakistan romance Dil Pardesi Go Gaya into consideration.

The third Eid release obviously hopes to cash in on the Muslim ambience of the product. Several years ago Sawan Kumar scored a success in the Muslim social genre with Sanam Bewafaa .

But the formula seems outdated. Likewise, Feroz Khan's desperation to woo audiences with his lead pair's bare bodies seems a little too obvious for comfort.

The coast is clear for debutant director Nikhil Advani's Kal Ho Naa Ho . It already leads the musical race with Shankar-Ehsan-Loy's soundtrack topping the charts.

Interestingly both its lead stars, Shah Rukh Khana and Preity Zinta, have had a hit earlier during the year. Khan had Chalte Chalte while Preity had Koi...Mil Gaya .

It's time to encore the feat. Says Bihar exhibitor Roshan Singh: "It was said once that if Rajesh Khanna died at the end, the picture would become a hit.

"After Karan Arjun and Devdas , Shah Rukh dying at the end has become equally auspicious at the box-office, Kal Ho Naa Ho is foolproof."
