Big B, Akshay, Anil at Prem Chopra's biography launch

Generations have grown up listening to the dialogue from Hindi movies, “Prem Naam Hai Mera….” — by one of the meanest baddie in B’town, Prem Chopra!

The villain of yesteryear, launched his biography titled, ‘Prem Naam Hai Mera’ over the weekend attended by Bollywood’s biggest celebrities to commemorate the significant occasion.

Superstars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, among others, attended the event to lend their support to one of Bollywood’s nicest persons.

He is an artiste, whom the audience loves to hate, but off-screen he is just the opposite person — a man who has earned the respect of one and all.

Children are scared, even today, by Chopra’s bad-guy image. But the actor himself feels that he has done a good job in his career. At the launch, he reportedly said, “I was honest and hard working actor. I am happy with the kind of work I have done. I have no regrets. I am happy being a villain.”

Superstar and action hero Akshay Kumar officially launched Chopra’s biography, by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. The book is written by Chopra’s daughter Rakita Nanda, who was present at the launch, too. Akshay Kumar said, “I was not aware about his (Prem Chopra’s) age till the time I read the book. He looks fit even today. It feels nice that a daughter has written this book. I wish even my daughter writes a biography on me.”

Amitabh Bachchan was seen at the star-studded event, dressed in his trademark white kurta-pyjama. Mr Bachchan has appeared in many films alongside Prem Chopra, and he reminisced about his association with the veteran actor.

Remembering his days with the villain, Big B was quoted saying, “We have shared some wonderful moments together. I loved working with him. He is a very good actor.”

While veteran actor Manoj Kumar, who was also present at the book launch, said, “It feels nice that a book on him is launched. But my personal belief is that his talent was not tapped properly.”

Chopra has worked in more than 300 films over 50 years and continues working with sincerity even today. This gifted actor has won many awards for his powerful performances. With numerous stage shows he has won hearts all over the world. But this on-screen ‘baddie’ has a gentle side in him and has stood for many noble causes and for the needy as well.
