‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ crosses 100 crore mark
Farhan Aktar starrer and director Rakesysh Omprakash Mehra’s directed movie, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has crossed the 100 crore mark at the box-office 10 days ago. Based on Indian famous athlete Milkha Singh the film was hugely liked by audience and appreciated by critics.
Despite 25 films got released after the movie hit the theatres, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was never out of the run and Farhan Akhtar joins the Bollywood stars like Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and many more who has set the trend of 100 crore.
"The film has crossed the Rs 100-crore mark, it’s time to rejoice," confirms a trade source.
If overseas collections are taken into account then the film crossed the mark 10 days ago. Speaking of Farhan’s achievement, a source says, "Before him, it was Ranbir Kapoor who was the newest entrant to do that, with his ninth film 'Barfi!'. Farhan has done it in his fifth film itself."
Thrilled with the film’s feat, the director said, "It's across the sections. From an 8-year-old to an 80-year-old... and in families, daughters and sons are taking their father (parents) and grandparents to see the film. This is rare! This was definitely not planned," Mehra said here on Friday at the launch of a mobile game based on the film.
The film is a biopic on former athlete Milkha Singh and the film's success was evident "because it was a tribute to the legendary sportsman Milkha Singh", said Mehra, adding, "That's a very special feeling."
"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" is set to cross Rs100 crore mark but Mehra says his priority lies in audience acceptance. When your work goes out to the masses and it's a commercial success, definitely it makes you feel very good and that means all your efforts are going out to more people," Mehra said.
"But more than just the commercial milestones, what is making us happy is the overwhelming response from the audience," he added.
‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ has become the third highest grosser of 2013.
