Popular Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee attempted suicide after a fight with her filmmaker boyfriend. She tried to end her life and sustained injury in her wrist and arm. She was admitted to Apollo Hospital on Saturday morning. She has to undergone corrective plastic surgery.

She is presently out of danger and is doing well. Doctors said she has to regularly come for check-ups and will take about a month to get well fully.

"She has sustained an injury on her left arm, for which plastic surgery was conducted on Saturday morning. The surgery took about an hour. It could take about a month for the repaired portion to settle down and go back to near-original," said plastic and cosmetic surgeon Kaushik Nandy.

Speaking to hitlist, Dr Nandy said, “She came to the hospital with shards of glass lodged in her forearm and wrist. We have now removed the same and she is stable now.’’

Doctors described Swastika’s state of mind. They said she looked "concerned and stressed" when she was brought to the hospital but she looked "happy and relaxed” at the time of discharge.

Swastika's sister Ajopa Mukherjee denied suicide report and said that she sustained injury after she fell down while partying. "She got injuries on her head and hand. She was holding a glass, pieces of which got into her arm as she fell," Ajopa said.

The Jadavpur police has decided not to probe the case further. DCP (ESD) Dhrubajyoti De said: "We have been made to understand by the hospital authorities that the wounds were accidental in nature and not self-inflicted."

"No case has been registered and there has been no formal complaint either," said De.

Swastika Mukherjee will be debuting in Hindi cinema with 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshi' opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.

She was discharged and police dropped the case.
