Babul Supriyo marries Rachna Sharma; PM Modi attends wedding
Playback singer and Union Minister and Babul Supriyo tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Rachna Sharma in a grand ceremony in New Delhi’s Ashoka Hotel on Tuesday, August 9. The glitzy affair was attended by Prime Minister Narendra and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
The wedding was also attended by several other politicians, corporates and Bollywood celebrities, like Venkaiah Naidu, Sashi Tharoor, Digvijay Singh, LK Advani and Jyotiraditya Scindia among others. Music composer Anu Malik was also spotted at the ceremony.
The wedding was a traditional ceremony according to Bengali rituals, followed by the reception. The couple hired Wedding Twinkles as the official photographer and videographer for their wedding.
Currently serving as the Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Babul met Rachna, an airhostess, on a Mumbai-Kolkata flight. The couple got engaged in a low-key ceremony a couple of months ago after dating each other for nearly two years.
In June this year, Babul revealed about his relationship with Rachna. He said, "For the last two years, my fate seems to have been circling in the air. Strange things are happening 30-35,000 ft above the sea level. Seems like someone is sitting up there and writing the script of my life."
It is the second marriage for the singer-turned-politician. Babul was earlier married to Rhea, but they got divorced in 2006. They have a daughter named Sharmilee.
