Ash-Akshay likely to act in Rituparno’s film
Rituparno Ghosh’s film Ragheer was to take off this year. The film was to be produced by Pritish Nandy Communications and was to star Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. Unfortunately Vidya opted out of the film at the last moment and now the project has been stalled. Ghosh has now started with his film Sunglass which stars Konkana Sen Sharma, Sanjay Suri and Jaya Bachchan. However now there are talks that the film will be produced by UTV.
According to sources the film is also going to have a new title and will be produced by UTV. But Pritish Nandy says “We have a contract with Akshay Kumar and Rituparno and as per my knowledge the film will still be produced by us.” But UTV claims that talks about making the film are on. Siddharth Kapoor of UTV says “We loved Rituparno’s script and the cast which will comprise of Akshay and Ash. But we will announce the final thing once everything falls into place.”
Sources further add that Rituparno is currently in talks with UTV, but has not yet informed Pritish Nandy. Ash has also been asked to do the role that was earlier supposed to be done by Vidya Balan. However Ash’s secretary claims “Rituparno has narrated several stories to Ash, but currently she is out of the country and hence only when she returns will she be able to take a decision.” However Ghosh has not confirmed any of these details as yet. If Ash consents to doing the film, this will be the second film which will star Ash-Akshay on-screen, earlier they were seen together in the film Khakee where Ash essayed a negative role. Hopefully we will get to see this fresh and talented couple on-screen. Ash will soon be seen in Dhoom 2, Guru and Umrao Jaan.
Earlier too the film was in a controversy when it was claimed that Ragheer was a remake of the classic ‘Guide’ which starred Dev Anand. But Ghosh claimed that his film was only inspired by Guide but it was not a remake. The film was also to star Suniel Shetty, but later on he was replaced by Sammir Dattani. Unfortunately the film’s cast, crew and now even the production company has to be sorted out before the film can take off.
