Anushka Sharma’s ‘Phillauri’ to release on Mar 31 next year
Anushka Sharma’s upcoming home production ‘Phillauri’ has been scheduled to hit theatres on March 31 next year and the movie is going to be a "colourful ride," the ‘Sultan’ actress revealed on Wednesday.
Anushka took to her Twitter handle to announce the release date of the movie and wrote, “I've got some news for you! #Phillauri will be out on 31st March'17. This one is going to be a crazy colourful ride, I promise @foxstarhindi."
The film is set in a small town named Phillaur in Punjab and has been shot extensively in the state. It stars Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma of ‘Life of Pie’ fame, Mehreen Pirzada and Anushka who reportedly plays a ghost in the films.
Diljit, who made his Bollywood acting debut with the much hyped drug drama ‘Udta Punjab’ said that the film is an emotional love story. “#Phillauri releases on 31st March 2017. Excited to show you this colourful crazy and emotional love story. @foxstarhindi @AnushkaSharma,” he tweeted.
The film went on floors on Baisakhi in April this year and wrapped up by June. It is currently in post-production stage which is going on in full swing. The film is co-produced by Anushka and her brother Karnesh Sharma’s banner Clean Slate Films and Fox Star Studios. It is Anushka’s second production after the critically acclaimed 2015 film ‘NH10’.
"We are very happy to announce the release date of 'Phillauri' - a romantic, fun film with loads of desi colour. It will release on March 31, 2017. Currently, the post-production work is on in full swing and we are excited about the way the film is shaping up," read a statement from the producers.
Debutan directer Anshai Lal has helmed the film.
After the blockbuster ‘Sultan’, Anushka will next be seen in Karan Johar’s directorial ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan among others. It is slated to release on October 28.
