Anil Kapoor breaks down at son Harshvardhan’s ‘Mirzya’ music launch

Daddy Anil Kapoor was full of praise for son Harsvardhan who will soon make his Bollywood debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s directorial ‘Mirziya’. The music of the romantic drama was launched on Tuesday at a five-star hotel in Mumbai.

Speaking at the event, Anil Kapoor said, “It is a very joyous moment for me today. My son Harshvardhan is here. Beta ho toh aisa ho (A son should be like him). But I want to say, he doesn't listen to me at all and does what he likes,” he joked.

"I know people are apprehensive about star sons. But I can assure you, whatever he has done today, he has done it on his own. He got the film on his own. Absolutely. He believes he is different. Don't expect anything from him that we did. That's his strength."

The 59-year-old actor was visibly emotional and with tears in his eyes said, "Life has come full circle today. My father came here to the industry a few decades back. He saw success, disappointments, but that gave me and my brothers strength. I want to thank my father, mother, my brothers." He wished that his son gets as much love from the industry as he has got.

The entire Kapoor family, including matriarch Nirmal Kapoor, Harsh's parents Anil and Sunita, sisters Sonam and Rhea, uncles Boney and Sanjay, aunts Sridevi and Maheep and cousin Shanaya were there to root for him.

Actress Saiyami, who is also making her debut opposite Harsh in the film also had aunts Tanvi and Shabana Azmi and uncles, Baba Azmi and Javed Akhtar, for company.

The director of the film along with its writer, poet-lyricist Gulzar and composers Shankar Ehsaan Loy were also present at the launch. Singer Daler Mehndi crooned the title track, while the composer trio also performed.

‘Mirzya’ is an epic action-romance inspired by the folklore of the legend of Mirza-Sahiban, set in contemporary times. It has been directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The movie is set to hit theatres on October 7.
