Odisha girl Ananya Nanda wins ‘Indian Idol Junior'


Odisha’s Ananya Nanda has been declared the winner of singing talent show ‘Indian Idol Junior 2’. The 14-year-old girl battled it out with Nahid Afrin and Nithyashree Venkataramanan to lift the winning trophy and prize money of Rs 10 lakhs, besides other rewards.

An excited Ananya said, “This is the best moment of my life. I am speechless! With the mentoring and the training I have received, I am thankful to Indian Idol Junior. I think all my co-contestants deserve this trophy. I am really thankful to the viewers of Sony Entertainment Television for showering us with so much love and support. I am going to miss this platform, training, my friends, Sonakshi Ma'am, Vishal and Salim Sir.”

The reality show started off in May with 13 contestants who were eliminated on by one basing on their performances till three of them – Ananya, Nahid and Nithyashree were left to fight it out in the finale.

The finale episode was a grand affair with the performances of all the contestants of the show as well as from the hosts Hussain Kuwajerwala and Asha Negi. Besides the three permanent judges of the show - Vishal Dadlani, Sonakshi Sinha and Salim Merchant, comedian Kapil Sharma and Sonakshi’s father Shatrughan Sinha also visited the show. The actress’ mother Poonam Sinha was also spotted.

Sonakshi who forayed into small screen as a judge of the show also performed to a medley of her popular songs like ‘Saree Ke Fall Sa,’ ‘Rani Tu Main Raja,’ ‘Pon Pon,’ ‘Tamanche Pe disco’ and ‘Party All Night’.

Kapil who was there to promote his upcoming film ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karu’ also joined the young talents on the stage and sang some hit numbers. Vishal Dadlani too broke into a gig to his recent number ‘Haftey Mei Chaar’ from Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘All Is Well’.
