Amitabh Bachchan to play a cameo in ‘Bombay Talkies’

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is expected to appear in a cameo in the forthcoming film Bombay Talkies. The seventy year old veteran actor will appear as himself.

Bollywood is celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema this year. The film Bombay talkies was planned as a part of this tribute. The film is a collection of four short films directed by Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Bannerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar. It is in Kashyap’s film that Bachchan will be seen in a short cameo role. His appearance revolves round the storyline where he meets a besotted fan who has travelled from his hometown Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh to meet the famous actor. Kashyap confessed that he had himself made a pilgrimage to the house of Amitabh Bachchan when he first began his Bollywood career as an aspiring director. Hence, this is a matter of nostalgia for him.

Bombay Talkies go one step further. Bachchan has long had a tradition where his fans gather in front of his house Prateeksha every Sunday. This real life situation has been adopted in the film. A song is to be performed by the gathering fans in honor of Amitabh Bachchan.

According to a source, "Bachchan will play a cameo in the film. There is a surprise in store for him where a flash mob of 60 Bachchans (artistes dressed and masked like Bachchan) will launch the song in front of his home." give it up for Bachchan – the song in Bombay Talkies have already generated much attention.

Earlier this month, Bachchan said that he believed that Indian cinema has made a lot of progress over the past 100 years.

Produced by Ashi Dua, Bombay Talkies consist of four separate short stories with different plots. The star cast includes Rani Mukherjee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Randeep Hooda, Katrina Kaif and Saqeeb Salim. The music has been given by Amit Trivedi

The film is 80 minutes long with each story taking up 20 minutes. Karan Johar’s film deals with the life and relationship of three individuals and Rani Mukherjee plays a journalist here. Zoya has portrayed the life of a little boy, starred by Katrina Kaif. Perhaps the film with the most social undertone has been shot by Dibakar Bannerjee where Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays a failed actor who believes that he has failed in life. Finally, Kashyap’s film deals with a fan who comes to meet Big B. Here, Bachchan will appear as himself.
