Amitabh Bachchan inaugurates free corrective surgery camp for children
Actor Amitabh Bachchan recently visited Lilavati Hospital for a social cause. He was there to inaugurate a free corrective surgery camp for young children that will be held over the weekend. This type of camp for young children has been organized for the last six years in different hospitals. Amitabh Bachchan’s mother was earlier at the hospital as she was unwell.
Amitabh was happy to be associated with such a noble cause for little children and said that as celebrities it was their duty to do something for society. He was also in a jovial mood and said “I am normally brought to this hospital on a stretcher or while visiting friends or family for treatment. This is a unique occasion.” Actress and former Miss World Diana Hayden as well as good friend of Amitabh, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh were also present at the inauguration event. Bachchan himself was admitted for his treatment earlier this year to Lilavati Hospital, for a minor surgery.
Amitabh Bachchan has also been voted as the Indian of the year during a poll conducted for a national newspaper. He was voted as the most popular person in a survey. Amitabh is extremely popular with housewives and the older age group as he is looked upon as an icon by many. Bachchan has been voted as the most popular Indian several times in the past too. He is working on several films currently like Ram Gopal Varma Ki Sholay, Nishabd etc. He was recently seen in the film Baabul alongside other actors like Rani Mukherjee, Hema Malini, Salman Khan and John Abraham.
